Stop One
Evan Walker Bridge
The first stop of your day will be at the Evan Walker Bridge in Southbank.
About the Evan Waker Bride
Also called the Southbank Pedestrian Bridge, the Evan Waker Bride is where the CBD and Southbank connect.
On the weekends you will find hundreds of tourists as well as Melbourne locals trying to get that picture perfect view of the city buildings and the Yarra River. Over 20,000 people use this bridge every day as a link between Flinders Street Station to Southbank. The Evan Walker Bridge recognises the late Prof Walker's role in creating the Southbank precinct.
Top Tips
Walk to the middle of the bridge and take advantage of the large archways and stand in the middle for a great picture of yourself amongst the hustle and bustle of the bridge with a view of the city behind you.
You can also lean against the railing with the top of St.Paul's Cathedral behind you. This way you can also get the water in your picture.
While you’re in the area…
We're starting your day off with a two for one special here!
One of the best kept secrets in this city is right underneath your feet. Find the staircase in the middle of the bridge that will lead you down to the sunken river bar, PonyFish Island.
Top Tips
Keep a look out for the viewing platform on your way down. This will give you a different view of the city and a perfect spot for a snap of you with the water and skyline behind you.
Get your buddy or a friendly local to take a picture of you standing on this platform from the Evan Walker Bridge above you.
