Before You Get Started.

Make sure your camera and microphone are working properly so you can join the zoom invitation sent around by the organiser.

When you enter the zoom call, change your name to the character you are playing - this will help everyone stay in character!

Make sure you have everyone's contact number so you can get in touch with the other characters. We encourage you to have private conversations with each other to try and solve this crime. The secrets are hidden everywhere, you just need to find them.

If you are having a private conversation - mute your microphone on zoom! Other players will see that you’re on a call, but they won’t be able to hear the details…

If you are the organiser, once you're on zoom, when you go to share your screen so that everyone can play along together, make sure you also change your audio settings so everyone can hear the audio clips that are part of your journey. Go to "Share Screen" and tick "Share computer sound" on the bottom left corner before sharing the screen.

How To Play.

Everyone should have read their character bio beforehand, and ideally have it open on a separate device or separate tab to refer back to if needed.

If you are the murderer, you will know.

The Town Sleuth (played by the game) will provide you with clues throughout the experience to help you all along. We recommend clicking to reveal a new clue every 15 minutes… but it’s really up to you and if you need more or less time. Whatever you decide - do it together as a group!

In between clue reveals, you need to try and use your relationships to trade information and try to uncover the murderer! Private chats and calls are very much encouraged. Remember, you want to be the person who guesses the murderer before anyone else - so think carefully about which information to trade, and which to keep to yourself! Get creative with ways to throw people off and make sure you’re staying ahead of everyone else! Don’t forget to look out for clues and red herrings!

Start the game by having each player introduce their character on the call, and revealing the first clue...

How To Guess The Murderer.

We think the best way to play is for everyone to hold onto their guess until the very end.

Another option is that anyone can publicly accuse someone of being the murderer mid-game, and the accusation (and time) is noted down. HOWEVER if this is the case, the murderer does not confirm or deny the accusation, the game play simply continues until the end. The person who guessed the murderer is unable to guess again once more information has been revealed so they better be confident when they do guess!

When the murderer is revealed you look back at the accusations and the first correct guess is the winner.

General Rules.

We have some simple rules for you to follow in order to have the most fun and keep the game moving. Please make sure you adhere to them at all times!

1 /

Everyone wants to win the game and be the person who correctly solves the crime.

You should avoid sharing too much of your findings with other people unless they are an ally or you have an ulterior motive to do so. You all have enemies amongst the players and don’t want them to solve the crime before you do.

This means avoiding questions like “Who was the last person to see The Mayor alive?” in the public chat. Piece together this information yourself.

2 /

Try to answer all questions honestly, unless your character bio says otherwise, the game relies heavily on the input of all players. Use all the information provided in your character bios to keep the plot moving!

3 /

We have listed some Character Goals for each of you to achieve throughout the duration of the night. They are at the end of your character documents.

You must complete these, they are there for the benefit of your own characters.

4 /

For guidance we suggest spending around 15 minutes on each clue round. It doesn’t matter if your spend more or less time than this, but you don’t want to whizz through the game too quickly and miss key infomation!
