Make a left on Spring St
Make sure to cross the road and head towards The Parliament Steps on the other side
About Parliament House
The backdrop to our next picture (and to almost every wedding picture taken in Melbourne city) is one of the most iconic buildings in Melbourne.
Parliament house took seven years to construct and it took over 10,000 people to make that happen!
Did you know that the marble foyer floor features black limestone, which is full of fossils of sea life that existed 345 million years ago? Did you also know that there are over 2,700 clocks ticking in parliament house every day?
Top Tips
Today we are opting for a quieter backdrop for our Insta photo tour. As impressive as the inside of the building is, today we are appreciating the amazing outside decor. We recommend taking your picture halfway up the steps so you can get the height of the building and some of the sky in your photo.
You can also take a closer shot to showcase those iconic columns.
To add a different look to your portfolio, try walking all the up the steps where you will find yourself on the Marble flooring in between the columns and greeted by the beautiful trims on the roof. Try to snap a picture with the Juliet style balcony and wooden door behind you.

Cross the road and head right
Once you’ve passed the Princess Theatre make a left on Little Bourke St
Keep a look out for the beautiful wine bar Punch Lane on your left hand side
