A LIGHT START

SPARKLING ROSÉ

The first drink of your tasting is a sparkling rosé. Your server will give you details on exactly which sparkling rosé they’ve hand-selected for you today.

DEVILED EGGS

Your sparkling rosé has been paired with deviled eggs with crispy prosciutto and paprika to get you started.

Why they are the perfect pair

Sparkling rosé is one of the most versatile, food-friendly wines out there. This dish in particular typically pairs well with sparkling rosé because the crispness and effervescence perfectly pairs with the creaminess of the deviled egg. The crisp and saltiness of the prosciutto adds a nice difference in texture and highlights the fruity notes in the wine. What do you taste?

White wine

The next in your tasting experience is a white wine. Your server will give you details on exactly which white wine they’ve hand-selected for you today.

+

Marinated olives

The cider has been paired with falafel and hummus. Falafel is a deep-fried ball, likely originating in Egypt, made from ground chickpeas and combined with plenty of herbs and spices.

Why they are the perfect pair

This dish typically pairs well with white wine because the salty, earthy quality of the olives balances perfectly with the lightness and notes of apple, pear, or citrus in the wine. Whether it’s a buttery, oak-y chardonnay or a crisp, refreshing sauvignon blanc, olives bring out the best in the wine without overpowering it with too much flavor.

SWEET ENDINGS

Red Wine

Our final tasting is a red wine. Your server will give you details on exactly which red wine they’ve hand-selected for you today.

+

Butternut Squash Bruschetta

Your red wine has been paired with butternut squash bruschetta with goat cheese, pear apple chutney, and a hint of cardamom.

Why they are the perfect pair

This dish typically pairs well with red wine because the bold flavors of sweet butternut squash and creamy goat cheese need a bold red wine to balance them. The bolder the better so the nuance of the wine does not get lost in the flavors of the bruschetta. The complexity and dryness of a red wine perfectly complements the creaminess of the butternut squash and goat cheese. The sweetness of the bruschetta enhances the dryness of the wine, as well as any earthy notes in it, while the cardamom and goat cheese highlight the dark fruit notes in the wine.

This concludes your Gourmet tasting at 8th st Winecellar.
