CUISINE FOUR

You’re Heading To Mermaid Oyster Bar!

79 Macdougal St., New York, NY 10011

Owner Danny Abrams first envisioned his business venture as a simple New England fish shack. His business partner at the time wanted to recreate the types of places he frequented during his childhood in Rhode Island. That concept quickly expanded to an almost all-seafood menu including tasty upscale fish dishes, an impressive raw bar, and New England favorites alike. The first location - The Mermaid Inn - opened in 2003 in the East Village. Since then, Abrams has added another Mermaid Inn on the Upper West Side, the Mermaid Oyster Bar in Greenwich Village, and now has his sights set on Chelsea.

Mermaid Oyster Bar is also passionate about their relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere, where everyone is welcome. Abrams says he goes for a “modern sensibility” when designing a restaurant...lots of wood floors, wood tabletops, crisp and clean designs that feel cozy and contemporary at the same time. So sit back, relax, and enjoy some of Manhattan’s best seafood!
