CITRIC BOMB!
To the left
Malfy Gin
Your first drink of the evening is a very special gin. The ‘Malfy Gin’ has a vivid, bright and enticing label, which hints at the citrus-forward spirit it contains. Infused with Italian juniper and five other botanicals - along with the famous Italian Sfusato lemons from the Amalfi Coast - the gin gives an unusually fresh and zesty aroma and palate that distinguishes it from other juniper-heavy gins.
+
Chorizo
This has been paired with Chorizo with burnt lemon
Why they are the perfect pair
With such a strong lemon flavour mixed with the classic juniper hit found in the gin, nothing pairs better than spicy chorizo. The chorizo cuts the lemon notes and adds a little bit of salt to the mouth. The complex flavors of the chorizo require more than a normal gin to balance it out and this pairing does just that!
THE HEALTHY ONE
In the middle
Premium Australian Gin
The next tasting in your line-up is a premium Australian gin with tomato and kiwi.
+
Brussel Sprouts
This has been paired with Crunchy Brussel Sprouts in Vegemite Butter.
Why they are the perfect pair
Although it's 50% ABV you don’t notice it (well, maybe later). What you do get is an earthy rounded gin that leaves a dry finish in the mouth. The brussel sprouts (an adventurous choice, we know!) highlight the dryness of the gin and the gin's earthy flavour - making the flavours of the food melt in your mouth.
FETA TASTY
to the right
Botanist Gin
For your final tasting you will enjoy a Botanist Gin. Well balanced, but sufficiently complex; this drink may be the floral/herbal gin most well-suited to entice a classic gin aficionado to step ever so slightly outside of their comfort zone. This is a well-made gin with fine attention to detail.
The blueberries and thyme intensify the flavours of the gin - what do you think?
+
Portobello Mushrooms
Your final tasting is accompanied by delicious Baby Portobello Mushroom & Smoked Feta
Why they are the perfect pair
The robustness of the feta and the light quality of the portobello mushroom bring out the dryness of the gin. Can you taste how the blackening spices on the mushroom enhance the floral and spicy pepper notes in the gin?
This concludes taster at W Churchill.
