Let’s do this!

Find your 4 weekly challenges below. This week's Flash Challenge prize is an awesome coffee machine or dream ice-cream making set - valued at over $240!

Challenge One

Nothing says romance like an Op Shop bargain, am I right?

Set yourselves a budget, $15 for example, and head to your closest Op Shop. Now allow just 10-15 minutes each to go on a bargain hunt and pick out a fun and unique item of clothing for your partner!

Pick thoughtfully - you want them to laugh out loud and smile with joy - it must be PERFECT for them.

Exchange your gifts at the same time and then prepare to show them off! Head out to a local cafe, pub or restaurant wearing your new fancy attire!

Don’t forget to take a fashion photo together in your new get-ups for a successfully complete challenge!

During your hot date, why not give our Find That Photo game a whirl too.

If you’re a Melbournian…

No Op Shops just yet but hold tight!

Instead, head to your local main street and find a special gift you think your partner will love. Again, agree on a strict budget and set a time limit for your bargain hunt too…and be creative!

Challenge Two

TEXT ALERT!

Your solo challenges will arrive via text message at surprise times during the week - these are individual challenges so keep them secret - keep them safe!

Challenge Three

Halloween is just around the corner, so it would be rude not to have a spooky veg carving battle off…

Grab two large pumpkins from your local supermarket and go head to head in a pumpkin carving competition. Decide who wins by posting your pumpkin photos and asking your fellow Couple Questers and friends and family to vote!

If your supermarket has run out of pumpkins do not fear! Experiment with fruits and veggies instead!

Flash Challenge
Play to win an awesome coffee machine or delicious ice-cream making kit.
Though this Weekly Prize has now passed, you still need to complete the challenge to be in the running for the Grand Prize!

For a chance to win an epic Ice-cream machine or coffee machine, capture a scene that describes the expression UPSIDE DOWN.

It must feature the two of you!

Week four done!

Remember, you need to complete all 20 challenges by the end of the month to be in with a chance of winning the Grand Prize!

Share your magical moments and follow #MyCouplesQuest to see the fun had by other couples right across Australia.

Photography Tips

Want some advice on how to take the best photo?
Give these ideas a try.

  • Unless you are capturing a backdrop or large piece - try getting in close. Fill the frame with your subject to avoid too much wasted space!

  • Be aware of backgrounds - don’t let things like garbage bins or a passerby ruin your shot if you don’t want to intentionally include them in it! Change your angle or wait until people have passed by. It will be worth it!

  • See The Light! Take note of where the light is coming from - does it cast interesting shadows on your subject that you may want to capture or does it just hide the detail you need? Move around to find the best lit angle.

  • Using the flash isn’t just for night time - sometimes a bright day may create harsh shadows that you don’t like, so using the flash may allow a more even exposure.

  • Laugh, don’t smile...a well-timed joke will often lead to a more natural looking shot of your subject rather than a forced ‘cheese’

  • Try framing - is there something you could use to frame your focal point - e.g by shooting through a window or archway?

  • Keep it simple - try not to pack too much into your shot. Try focusing on one or two points of interest per shot.
