Start Tasting?
For your next tasting you will be trying out three different cheeses, each paired with a uniquely selected sherry.
A FRUITY START
Our first tasting at Flok is a Krizno Sauvignon Blanc, a Slovenian grown wine. Fresh and elegant, it is a beautiful blend of aromas with flavours of green apples, a floral touch and an impressively fruity finish!
Wine-making in Slovenia has existed since before the Celts and Illyrian tribes. Today, Slovenia has more than 28,000 wineries and 75% of the country's production is White Wine. Just don’t try saying ‘Slovenian Sauvignon’ after a few glasses!
This wine has been paired with Manchago.
Why they are the perfect pair
Manchago is a supple cheese made from unpasteurized sheep's milk. Its flavour ranges from fruity and nutty to sweet and tangy! Paired with the punch of the Krizo Sauvignon blanc, you will experience an explosion of favour after each nibble & sip.
LADY IN RED
For your second tasting you will be indulging in a glass of Quid Pro Quo Malbec. A smooth, yet powerful beverage.
Malbec is a variety of purple grape used for making red wine. A popular but unconfirmed theory claims that Malbec is named after a Hungarian peasant who first spread the grape variety throughout France! This delicious Malbec has been paired with English Brie.
Why they are the perfect pair
Pairing this wine with English Brie allows you to enjoy its full flavour. The mildness of the brie acts as a canvas for this fantastic, flavoursome wine to paint all of your taste buds!
A SMOKEY FINISH
Your final tasting is a Croft Reserve Tawny Port, featuring flavours of dried apricot, roasted almonds and walnuts that fly out of the glass straight onto the palate! It has been noted that a gently chilled, well-aged Tawny refreshes the parts that no other wine (or beer) can reach..Tawny Port has aged longer in the cask, sometimes as long as 20 years. As it matures, more of its colour fades to a brownish, tawny colour. Hence the name.
Your Tawny has been paired with a Mahon.
Why they are the perfect pair
Named after the port of Mahón on the Spanish island of Minorca, this cheese is dense and crumbly in texture. During maturation, the cheese is hand-rubbed with butter, paprika or oil. The cheese is sold between 2 and 10 months old. Paired alongside Tawny Port, the two flavours will mingle and bring out the best in each other. A perfect way to finish the tasting!
This concludes your tasting at Flok. We hope you enjoyed it!
Are you ready to move on?
