Let’s do this!

Time to get into another week of challenges - this week’s Flash Challenge prize is an at-home party kit, valued at over $240!

Challenge One

Holiday from home.

When was the last time you sent a postcard? We bet it was yonks ago!

There’s something really special about receiving a handwritten letter or postcard in the mail, so let’s get the pens and pencils out and make someone’s day.

Write to someone who you haven’t seen in a while, perhaps your grandparents or a friend from school, or even just a friendly neighbour from down the road.

Update them on whatever you like, such as what you’ve had for breakfast and how much fun you’re having on your Family Fun Challenge Month 😛 Include pictures too!

Then post it!

To complete the challenge take a photo of you holding your letter or posting your postcard.

Challenge Two

Turn the music up and battle it out to your favourite songs.

Everyone pick a favourite song and put on your best dance or lip sync performance - feel free to go all out with costumes too!

Why not team up for duos and get the rest of the family to be the panel of judges, just like on The Voice?!

Don’t forget to take a rockstar photo and if you bought our kit - now’s the time to use your inflatable guitar!

Challenge Three

Halloween is just around the corner, so let’s throw on our wizard and witch’s hats and create some wicked slime!

We’ve put together two different recipes you can experiment with here.

Snap a fun picture of you all with slimy fingers and smiley faces!

Photography Tips

Want some advice on how to take the best photo?
Give these ideas a try.

  • Unless you are capturing a backdrop or large piece - try getting in close. Fill the frame with your subject to avoid too much wasted space!

  • Be aware of backgrounds - don’t let things like garbage bins or a passerby ruin your shot if you don’t want to intentionally include them in it! Change your angle or wait until people have passed by. It will be worth it!

  • See The Light! Take note of where the light is coming from - does it cast interesting shadows on your subject that you may want to capture or does it just hide the detail you need? Move around to find the best lit angle.

  • Using the flash isn’t just for night time - sometimes a bright day may create harsh shadows that you don’t like, so using the flash may allow a more even exposure.

  • Laugh, don’t smile...a well-timed joke will often lead to a more natural looking shot of your subject rather than a forced ‘cheese’

  • Try framing - is there something you could use to frame your focal point - e.g by shooting through a window or archway?

  • Keep it simple - try not to pack too much into your shot. Try focusing on one or two points of interest per shot.
