Let the fun begin!
Find your 4 weekly challenges below, including the weekly Flash Challenge!
We want to make sure you capture the fun in the best possible way, so we’ve created a few simple photography tips you can find at the bottom of this page.
Challenge One
Everyone plant a sunflower seed!
Spring is the perfect time to plant some seeds and watch new life grow. Follow our guide here and watch them closely as they start to sprout - it’s a competition to see whose sunflower grows to be the tallest - let the race begin!
For a completed challenge, take a photo of you all holding your plant pots with pride!
We’ll check in to find out whose is the first to sprout in a couple of weeks time!
Challenge Two
It’s World Space Week! Time for some family stargazing!
Pick a clear night to head into the backyard or on to the balcony. Take some snacks, cushions and blankets and build a cosy snug. Now, look up at the night sky and see if you can find patterns in the stars or recognise any of the planets.
World Space Week celebrates all things science and technology. So, for some extra fun, download the Skyview App on your phone, point it up to the sky and watch as it highlights all of the constellations above! Screenshot your favourite constellations and take a family selfie looking up up at the starry night.
For the little ones…
If it only gets dark past their bedtime, then challenge the kids to a space rock hunt. Wrap treats up in tinfoil and hide them all around their bedroom to find! Finally grab a picture of everyone doing their best impression of a shooting star!!
Challenge Three
Everyone loves bubbles!
We’ve found a simple recipe that makes THE BEST GIANT BUBBLES. Use our guide here to help you mix up a bubble solution and create an epic bubble wand. (The solution works best when it’s had time to sit overnight and get sticky!) Who can create the biggest bubble?!
Alternatively…
Grab some bubble tubs and play the games below.
Line up one behind the other. The first person in the line blows as many bubbles as they can, then runs to the other end of the backyard/park and back trying to reach the line before all of the bubbles have popped. Continue so that everyone gets a turn.
No hands allowed! See how many parts of your body you can use to pop bubbles. Can you use your elbow? Knee? Or even your nose?
Can you catch a bubble? Usually bubbles pop as soon as they touch your skin. Try putting a sock on your hand and seeing if you can catch them. How many can you catch?
For a successfully completed challenge, simply capture the magical bubble moments on camera!
Flash Challenge!
Play to win a Garden Games Fun Kit
Though this Weekly Prize has now passed, you still need to complete it to be in the running for the Grand Prize!
Create a family pyramid
Ready for some family acrobatics? We’re challenging you to create a family human pyramid! Get creative, either with the pyramid or your costume choices!
Make sure you have plenty of space around you when you build your family pyramid and a soft surface is best, just in case! Be careful and have fun with it!
Fun Fact!
Did you know that every year in Spain they hold a human pyramid festival? The tallest pyramid ever created was stacked nine people high! That’s a long way up and a long way down!
Channel 7 did a really cool spotlight on Human Towers, check it out here and here!

Photography Tips
Want some advice on how to take the best photo?
Give these ideas a try.
Unless you are capturing a backdrop or large piece - try getting in close. Fill the frame with your subject to avoid too much wasted space!
Be aware of backgrounds - don’t let things like garbage bins or a passerby ruin your shot if you don’t want to intentionally include them in it! Change your angle or wait until people have passed by. It will be worth it!
See The Light! Take note of where the light is coming from - does it cast interesting shadows on your subject that you may want to capture or does it just hide the detail you need? Move around to find the best lit angle.
Using the flash isn’t just for night time - sometimes a bright day may create harsh shadows that you don’t like, so using the flash may allow a more even exposure.
Laugh, don’t smile...a well-timed joke will often lead to a more natural looking shot of your subject rather than a forced ‘cheese’
Try framing - is there something you could use to frame your focal point - e.g by shooting through a window or archway?
Keep it simple - try not to pack too much into your shot. Try focusing on one or two points of interest per shot.
