Your Perfect Pairs

Your tastings will go in order of left to right. We have tailored this to hit your taste buds at the perfect times so try your best to stick to the order below!

Enjoy!

A NICE EASY START

Your first drink of your tasting the La Lune Chardonnay. It’s a light-bodied wine with fresh flavours that brighten up the palette.

Your chardonnay has been paired with a delicious double cream brie. Double cream brie has cream added before curds have formed which is what gives it the beautiful texture and rich flavour.

Why they are the perfect pair

The chardonnay is going to help refresh your palette for the creaminess of the brie. The fruit-forward flavour of the wine is going to help cut through the density and richness of the cheese.

A STRONG SECOND

Next up is a sweet Riesling from Craggy Range, another NZ great. A semi sweet, dry white wine, this drop is crisp on the palette. This is because of the naturally high acidic quantity and this also means it’s a perfect aging wine.

Paired with this is a beautiful blue cheese. Typified by the blue veins running through formed by mold (which gives the cheese it’s distinct aroma).

Why they are the perfect pair

Because blue cheese is so strong and salty, it needs a crisp fruity wine to back up the flavours, which is what is found in this Riesling.

A BLENDED FINISH

Our final tasting is a Pinot Noir from Neudorf Toms Block in New Zealand. Pinot Noir grapes are some of the hardest to grow - known for being particularly temperamental, preferring cooler climates. Best paired with earthy food to help bring out the flavours of the tannins.

Your Pinot Noir is paired with an aged gruyere. The aging process means the cheese becomes nutty and complex.

Why they are the perfect pair

So that the soft, complex flavours of the cheese aren’t lost or overshadowed by a stronger wine, the pinot noir is a perfect compliment. With it’s own complexity they work splendidly together.

This concludes your King of the Grill tasting at La Lune Wine Co. Thanks for stopping by!
