Your Perfect Pairs
Here you will be enjoying three different tequilas paired with some traditional Mexican bites.
Enjoy!
MIX IT UP
Your first tequila of the evening is Volando Blanco - an Australian owned company, working with some of the best Mexican ingredients. This is a really nice base tequila which has a nice bold agave intensity. A passing scent of caramel and baked agave, fruits and the slightest herbal hints give way to the bold, earthy flavours of wet stone.
This has been paired with a chicken flautas - a rolled and fried rice flour tortilla topped with sour cream and salsa fresca.
Why they are the perfect pair
This duo have been paired up because the bold and intense flavours found in this particular tequila is balanced out well with the simple flavours of the flautas. The freshness of the toppings will help break through the earthiness of the tequila. So many flavours in one mouthful - what do you think?!
SOMETHING EXOTIC
The next tasting in your vintage line up is the Patron Anejo. This tequila has been oak aged for over 12 months which is what gives it’s warm amber colour. You’ll start tasting the oak flavour followed by notes of vanilla, raisin and honey. The finish features a smokiness and caramel notes, typical of aged tequila.
This drink is accompanied by beef tacos with homemade corn tortillas.
Why they are the perfect pair
These have been paired together as the fresh coriander and salsa ingredients are going to cut through the smoky flavour of the tequila. The slight sweetness of the drink will also add some new dimensions to the taco. Try taking a sip and then a bite to see how they work together. Thoughts?
SPICY & SWEET
For your final tasting you will enjoy the 1800 Anejo tequila. This is aged for slightly longer than your last tequila, giving it a deeper colour. Its finish is described as spicy and well rounded with flavours of toasted oak, vanilla and butterscotch. This deep, luxurious tequila by 1800 is ideal for sipping.
Your final tasting is accompanied by a delicious Mexican Tamal with chicken mole - a special sauce made from chilli, chocolate, nuts and spices. Every mole recipe differs depending on family traditions but they’re always guaranteed to be delicious!
Why they are the perfect pair
They have been paired together because the sweet finishing notes of the tequila is going to help bring out the complexity brought to the mole by adding chocolate to the sauce.
