Romance is in the air and no expense has been spared to celebrate the special union of Jennifer Love and Stefan Blake. It’s the wedding of the year and unfortunately for you, you’re stuck handing out the canapes and topping up the flutes, great. 

It’s 6.50pm, the speeches are over and everyone is gradually moving into the Sapphire Lounge, ready to watch the newlyweds take to the dance floor. 

Something seems amiss, the Best Man, Jasper, was meant to announce the Bride and Groom to the floor but where is he? Everyone carries on gossiping, ordering drinks at the bar and commenting on Jennifer’s bridal beauty whilst Shonnee Hatton, the maid of honour, wanders off in search of Jasper. 

A minute later a harrowing scream cuts through the air. A group of guests run towards the noise and find Shonnee standing over a body, shaking. Jasper’s lifeless body is lying in a pool of blood, his blue eyes wide open, unblinking. 

A barman calls emergency services and a small swarm of officers flee to the venue, Detective Timothy Toole is in charge. 

There’s no denying it, someone has murdered the best man! 

There is no weapon to be found.

The wedding day has been a whirlwind of champagne fuelled scandals, chats and confrontations. The grounds are large and guests have been flowing through the lavish rooms all day.  Anyone could have have witnessed the murder and anyone could be the murderer. 

Can you piece together the timeline and solve this ghastly crime?! 

To solve the crime, you will need to ask your fellow players as many questions as possible, adhere to your background information as accurately as possible. 

The game is designed for 6-12 people. If you’re playing with less than 12 people the murderer may or may not be amongst you this evening and there might be references here and there to characters that aren’t playing.

You are Ruby Sampson and you’re 17 years old. 

You’re moody and openly disinterested in your job at August Grounds. It’s your first week and you’re only here because your mom made you get a job to fund your upcoming uni tuition fees. 

It’s always just been you and your mom, supposedly your dad left when you were just a baby because “he was a heartless pig who lacked responsibility”. Money’s always been tight but recently things got worse because your mom lost her job. The little cafe where she works is being bulldozed within a couple of weeks to make room for some fancy new businesses development. 

You used to go to school with the bride's daughter, Ocean Love, but Ocean dropped out early to focus on her global environmental activism. You think Ocean is amazing and beautiful and your absolute idol. You know she’ll be at this wedding, hopefully she’ll remember you?! She was always way cooler than you. 

All week you’ve been taking leftover dinners home for your mom to reheat in the microwave. You feel a bit guilty about it though because your boss is super weird and stingy. You even saw him top up the Grey Goose bottle with cleanskin vodka! You’re 17 and broke but even you have standards.

You arrived at the venue ready for a day’s work around 10am. You said hello to August, the band member and the wedding photographer. You then started doing the usual tasks such as setting the tables and helping the vendors bring in the wedding features. This wedding had a Cupid ice sculpture feature - the rich are so tasteless! 

At 10.30 you decided to have a quick scroll through your social media accounts and noticed a tweet from Ocean:

At 11am, as you were preparing the tables, you watched Pete Peters run into the gardens and begin a round of intense push ups, weirdo!

Around midday, the lead band member came into the scullery looking for a bucket and a rope. You showed him where to find them, as he walked out you asked why he needed them but he mustn't have heard you because he just kept walking.  

By 4.30pm, everyone was seated and eating. You hid back in the scullery for a while and then something really weird happened, Three Nipple Nick came back in and asked if you could leave all the food scraps in a separate bin and he’ll come to collect it around 7pm, just before the newlywed dance! What is he planning? Weirdo. 

By 5pm, you finally got the chance to talk to Ocean Love, she found you in the bathroom filling up the soap dispensers. She showed you a bluebird brooch that she gave her mom for the wedding day, you then talked a bit about school drama until she started bagging out Jasper Blake. She said his new development project is being built on a huge bird migration path and it’s going to have a devastating impact on the local environment. She then revealed the location of and you couldn’t believe your ears! It’s the same project that is bulldozing your mom’s cafe! Livid. 

She declared  "There's a time for talk and there's a time for action Ruby. I'm not going to let him… ” she stopped mid sentence because Jasper’s aunty walked in, Nelly Woodville. You both left the bathroom and didn’t get a chance to talk again.

You were in the scullery when you heard lots of commotion coming from the Sapphire Lounge, you rushed out to see what was happening and you found August flapping about in a panic and a bridesmaid who looked like she'd seen a ghost.

Jennifer Love - Bride 

Jennifer is the coolest mom you’ve ever seen and she always looks immaculate. Ocean once told you she wished her mom would care more about really world issues rather than fashion and celeb gossip. 

August Wilde - Venue owner and your boss

You’ve only known him a week, he’s nice to you but he’s obviously worried about something and he’s super stingy with food and drink portions. 

Three Nipple Nick - Wedding band member 

You met Three Nipple Nick for the first time this morning. He’s pretty odd but as far as you know, he doesn’t know too many people here today so he might be up for trading information. He’s clearly got secrets of his own after all the random requests he made today. 

Peter Peters - Groomsman 

Peter Peters is one of the best and hunkiest personal trainers in town. He’s taught a couple of circuit training sessions at your school over the last couple of years too. Today you’ve watched him nip in and out of the venue to do a quick 10 push-ups here and there, hilarious. He’s looking at you a bit strangely today but he’s usually very friendly.

August might be suspicious of you because it’s your first week on the job and there’s never been an incident at the venue before. Try and avoid talking to him, your links to Jasper will only lead to more suspicion.

We have some simple rules for you to follow in order to have the most fun and keep the game moving. Please make sure you adhere to them at all times!

Be the first person to win the game by solving the murderer before anyone else! Be strong in your guess as you can only provide one answer!

You should avoid sharing too much of your findings with other people unless they are an ally or you have an ulterior motive to do so. You all have enemies amongst the players and don’t want them to solve the crime before you do. 

This means avoiding questions like “Who was the last person to see the victim alive?” in the public chat. Piece together this information yourself.

Try to answer all questions honestly, unless your character bio says otherwise, the game relies heavily on the input of all players. Use all the information provided in your character bios to keep the plot moving!

Try and achieve your  Character Goals throughout the duration of the night. They are there for the benefit of your own characters.
