Romance is in the air and no expense has been spared to celebrate the special union of Jennifer Love and Stefan Blake. It’s the wedding of the year and you’ve turned up uninvited. 

It’s 6.50pm, the speeches are over and everyone is gradually moving into the Sapphire Lounge, ready to watch the newlyweds take to the dance floor. 

Something seems amiss, the Best Man, Jasper, was meant to announce the Bride and Groom to the floor but where is he? Everyone carries on gossiping, ordering drinks at the bar and commenting on Jennifer’s bridal beauty whilst Shonnee Hatton, the maid of honour, wanders off in search of Jasper. 

A minute later a harrowing scream cuts through the air. A group of guests run towards the noise and find Shonnee standing over a body, shaking. Jasper’s lifeless body is lying in a pool of blood, his blue eyes wide open, unblinking. 

A barman calls emergency services and a small swarm of officers flee to the venue, Detective Timothy Toole is in charge. 

There’s no denying it, someone has murdered the best man! 

There is no weapon to be found.

The wedding day has been a whirlwind of champagne fuelled scandals, chats and confrontations. The grounds are large and guests have been flowing through the lavish rooms all day.  Anyone could have have witnessed the murder and anyone could be the murderer. 

Can you piece together the day’s events that led to this horrific crime?

To solve the crime, you will need to ask your fellow players as many questions as possible, adhere to your background information as accurately as possible. 

The game is designed for 6-12 people. If you’re playing with less than 12 people the murderer may or may not be amongst you this evening and there might be references here and there to characters that aren’t playing.

You’re Vinnie Fowler, the father of Jennifer and Amy Love and grandfather to Ocean Love.

Once a key member of the underground organisation, the Wesley Crew. you’ve been involved in criminal activity for the majority of your life. You’re a man of few words but calculative and ruthless, even violent when necessary.

You turned 65 in March and decided to take a small step back from the criminal underworld,  you still run some dodgy operations here and there though for old friends and/or a healthy pay cheque. 

Your greatest regret is the relationship you have with your daughters. You were a lousy father to them growing up and your notorious reputation frequently put them in danger. Once they hit the age of 18 they decided to cut you off completely, changing their family name to Love and refusing to see you. You’re not proud of it, as The Godfather said, “A man who doesn’t spend time with his family can never be a real man.” 

You haven’t seen Jennifer or Amy in years but you’d love the chance to make it up to them somehow. You wanna make it right.

At 8.30am you got a call from Jennifer, you tried to remain calm and cool on the phone but in truth you were ecstatic to hear from her, especially on her wedding day!

She was hysterical though so you couldn’t hear a word of what she was saying at first. Eventually you got the gist of it, she slept with the best man at some point and now he’s trying to blackmail her. What a rat. She frantically asked “ What should I do? How do I get rid of him?” You told her you’d take care of it. 

You’re a man of action so you called up an old friend and asked to borrow one of his suits, there was no way this guy was going to ruin your eldest daughter's big day. If you solved this problem for her, maybe she’d let you back into the family again? It’s worth a shot. 

At around 1.15pm you arrived at the wedding, just in time for the ceremony. As you walked into the hall you bumped into Jennifer - she didn’t look happy to see you, in fact she looked slightly unhinged. She told you through gritted teeth to stay low and don’t cause a scene. 

At the ceremony you looked across the room and saw Nelly Woodville! A couple of years ago you took a job from an anonymous client to tamper with her late husband's excavator, ultimately it led to his death. She has no idea who you are and you plan to keep it that way. 

The photo session at 3pm seemed the perfect place to catch Jasper off guard and have a quiet word. You took him aside, leaned in and spoke to him quietly. Your subtle speech ended with the words “If you don’t do this, I will find you... and I will ruin you.” Ocean glanced over but you doubt she heard anything. 

After the desert, (an underwhelming black forest tart), You go for a wonder and find Shonnee sobbing in a corner. You needed a break from this madness so you went outside for a while for a smoke and swig from your whiskey flask. 

You hate admitting it but you’re getting on a bit so you shut your eyes for a quick power nap. The next thing you heard was a scream coming from the Sapphire Lounge.

Jennifer Love - The bride and your daughter

Your eldest daughter. Although you’ve been a terrible father over the years you’re now  committed to protecting her. Stefan can’t find out about Jennifer’s affair with Jasper. 

Amy Love - Your youngest daughter 

Your youngest daughter is vain and stubborn and has spoken to you in years. Growing up the sisters were always competing against each other and you wouldn’t put it past Amy to do something very silly for her own personal gain. 

Ocean Love - Your granddaughter

You’ve only met a handful of times but you’re sure she thinks badly of you. She’d probably think you’re capable of murder too!  

Nelly Woodville - Groom’s aunty

A couple of years ago you tampered with her late husband's excavator, ultimately it led to his death. She has no idea of your involvement and you intend to keep it that way. 

Shonnee Hatton - Maid of honour 

You don't know her very well but you know she’s been best friends with Jennifer since childhood and she’s usually annoyingly optimistic and upbeat. It was strange to see her sobbing earlier though. She won’t talk to you though because she’s never liked you.

Unlike most of these fools, you’ve got a lot of experience with police and violence.

There’s no denying it though, fingers will be pointing at you, especially as you weren’t seen for a while whilst you were asleep outside. 

It’s time to stay calm, do some probing and rat out the killer.

People may know that you weren’t actually invited today. Don’t lie but think of a reason that puts you out of the spotlight - “your daughter last minute decided that she wanted your support on the day.”

Why was Shonnee a mess? You could ask her but you doubt she’ll tell you - perhaps you could ask your other daughter Amy?

Talk to Jennifer and see if she’s hiding anything else. Could anyone else have vendettas against him other than Jennifer? Does Stefan know more than he should? Tread carefully here!

Be the first person to win the game by solving the murderer before anyone else! Be strong in your guess as you can only provide one answer!

You should avoid sharing too much of your findings with other people unless they are an ally or you have an ulterior motive to do so. You all have enemies amongst the players and don’t want them to solve the crime before you do. 

This means avoiding questions like “Who was the last person to see the victim alive?” in the public chat. Piece together this information yourself.

Try to answer all questions honestly, unless your character bio says otherwise, the game relies heavily on the input of all players. Use all the information provided in your character bios to keep the plot moving!

Try and achieve your  Character Goals throughout the duration of the night. They are there for the benefit of your own characters.
