Romance is in the air and no expense has been spared to celebrate the special union of Jennifer Love and Stefan Blake. It’s the wedding of the year and unfortunately for you, you’re stuck handing out the canapés and topping up the flutes. Great. 

It’s 6.50pm. The speeches are over and everyone is gradually moving into the Sapphire Lounge, ready to watch the newlyweds take to the dance floor. 

Something seems amiss. The Best Man, Jasper, was meant to announce the Bride and Groom to the floor, but where is he? Everyone carries on gossiping, ordering drinks at the bar, and commenting on Jennifer’s bridal beauty whilst Shonnee Hatton, the Maid of Honour, wanders off in search of Jasper. 

A minute later, a harrowing scream cuts through the air. A group of guests run towards the noise and find Shonnee standing over a body, shaking. Jasper’s lifeless body is lying in a pool of blood; his blue eyes wide open, unblinking. 

A barman calls emergency services and a small swarm of officers flee to the venue. Detective Timothy Toole is in charge. 

There’s no denying it, someone has murdered the Best Man! 

There is no weapon to be found.

The wedding day has been a whirlwind of champagne fuelled scandals, chats, and confrontations. The grounds are large and guests have been flowing through the lavish rooms all day. Anyone could have have witnessed the murder and anyone could be the murderer. 

Can you piece together the timeline and solve this ghastly crime?! 

To solve it, you will need to ask your fellow players as many questions as possible and adhere to your background information as accurately as possible. 

The game is designed for 6-12 people. If you’re playing with less than 12 people this evening, note that there might be references here and there to characters that aren’t playing.

You are Ruby Sampson and you’re 17 years old. 

You’re moody and openly disinterested in your job at August Grounds. It’s your first week and you’re only here because your mom made you get a job to fund your upcoming uni tuition fees. 

It’s always just been you and your mom. According to her, your dad left when you were just a baby because “he was a heartless pig who lacked responsibility”. Money’s always been tight but recently things have gotten worse because your mom lost her job. The little cafe where she works is being bulldozed within a couple of weeks to make room for some fancy new businesses development. 

You used to go to school with the bride's daughter, Ocean Love, but Ocean dropped out early to focus on her global environmental activism. You think Ocean is amazing and beautiful and your absolute idol. You know she’ll be at this wedding. Hopefully she’ll remember you! She was always way cooler than you were. 

All week you’ve been taking leftover dinners home for your mom to reheat in the microwave. You feel a bit guilty about it though because your boss is super weird and stingy. You even saw him top up the Grey Goose bottle with Cleanskin vodka! You’re 17 and broke but even you have standards.

You arrived at the venue ready for a day’s work around 10am. You said hello to August, the band member, and the wedding photographer. You then started doing the usual tasks such as setting the tables and helping the vendors bring in the wedding features. This wedding had a Cupid ice sculpture feature - the rich are so tasteless! 

At 10.30 you decided to have a quick scroll through your social media accounts and noticed a tweet from Ocean:

At 11am, as you were preparing the tables, you watched Pete Peters run into the gardens and begin a round of intense push ups…weirdo!

Around midday, the lead band member came into the scullery looking for a bucket and a rope. You showed him where to find them. As he walked out you asked why he needed them, but he mustn't have heard you because he just kept walking.  

By 4.30pm, everyone was seated and eating. You hid back in the scullery for a while and then something really weird happened. Three Nipple Nick came back in and asked if you could leave all the food scraps in a separate bin and he’ll come to collect it around 7pm, just before the newlywed dance! What is that freak planning? 

By 5pm, you finally got the chance to talk to Ocean Love. She found you in the bathroom filling up the soap dispensers. She showed you a bluebird brooch that she gave her mom for the wedding day. You then talked a bit about school drama until she started bagging out Jasper Blake. She said his new development project is being built on a huge bird migration path and it’s going to have a devastating impact on the local environment. She then revealed the location of it and you couldn’t believe your ears! It’s the same project that is bulldozing your mom’s cafe! Livid. 

She declared "There's a time for talk and there's a time for action, Ruby. I'm not going to let him… ” she stopped mid sentence because Jasper’s aunt walked in - Nelly Woodville. You both left the bathroom and didn’t get a chance to talk again.

You were in the scullery when you heard lots of commotion coming from the Sapphire Lounge. You rushed out to see what was happening and you found August flapping about in a panic and a bridesmaid who looked like she'd seen a ghost.

We have some simple rules for you to follow in order to have the most fun and keep the game moving.

Please make sure you adhere to them at all times!

Be the first person to win the game by solving for the murderer before anyone else! Be strong in your guess as you can only provide one answer!

You should avoid sharing too much of your findings with other people, unless they are an ally or you have an ulterior motive to do so. You all have enemies amongst the players and don’t want them to solve the crime before you do. 

This means avoiding questions like “Who was the last person to see the victim alive?” in a large group. Piece together this information yourself.

Try to answer all questions honestly, unless your character bio says otherwise,

The game relies heavily on the input of all players. Use all the information provided in your character bios to keep the plot moving!

Make sure you complete your Character Goals.

Each of you has some Character Goals listed for you to achieve throughout the duration of the night. They are at the end of your character documents. You must complete these. They are there for the benefit of your own characters.
